Ensuring a secure, headache-free setup is crucial. This guide walks you through installing and configuring Trezor Suite, initializing your device, and safeguarding your recovery seed.
Visit suite.trezor.io on your desktop browser (Chrome, Firefox, Edge).
Choose your operating system (Windows, macOS, Linux).
Verify the file’s SHA256 checksum against the one published by SatoshiLabs.
Install and launch the application.
Connect your Trezor hardware wallet via USB (Model T can use a USB-C cable).
Select “Create a new wallet” on the Suite welcome screen.
Set a secure PIN (minimum 4 digits, recommended 6+). Avoid obvious sequences and store your PIN mentally.
Record your recovery seed on the provided card. Trezor Model T uses a touchscreen to randomly generate 12, 18, or 24 words.
Confirm the words in the correct order when prompted. This ensures you have an accurate copy of your seed.
Activate a hidden wallet by entering a passphrase at startup.
Benefit: Even if someone finds your seed, they cannot access funds without the passphrase.
Check for firmware updates on the dashboard—Suite will prompt you if a new version is available.
Grant permission on your device’s screen to install.
Restart the Suite to apply changes.
Test your recovery seed by using the Suite’s “Recovery” feature with a secondary Trezor or a secure offline tool.
Store seed phrase in a safe location (fireproof safe, bank safety deposit box).
Never take digital photos or type your seed—opt for physical engraving if available.
Setting up Trezor Suite correctly from the start maximizes the security of your cryptocurrencies and gives you peace of mind knowing that even in worst-case scenarios, your assets remain recoverable.
